Ive Mendes at Piwnica pod Baranami Summer Jazz Festival

Ive Mendes is the first of the international music stars to appear during the 22nd Piwnica pod Baranami Summer Jazz Festival in Krakow.

The Brazilian beauty Ive Mendes will perform at the ICE Krakow Congress Centre accompanied by her band and a string quartet on June 25th, 2017. The artist described by the critics as the next Sade combines smooth jazz with the Brazilian bossa-nova. Her last concert in Poland, in November last year at Warsaw’s National Opera-Grand Theatre – as a part of the BMW JAZZ CLUB was an immense success. Mendes presented the songs from her newest album entitled „Bossa romantica” published by Sony Music – the material we will also hear in Krakow. The June concert is co-organised by the Krakow Festival Burreau (KBF) as a part of the ICE Jazz concert cycle and will be hosted by the renowned music journalist Marcin Kydryński.

The art of the singer born in the Brazilian Ceres is influenced by her roots – she was born into a family of French, Spanish, Portuguese and Brazilian Indigenous descent. Dubbed the Brazilian Sade, the singer fascinates with a style and a magnetic personality of her own.

The music of Ive Mendes captivates the audiences with intimate ambiance of a balmy evening permateated with bossa-nova, samba, jazz, soul, pop, chillout and the sensual voice of the artist. Inspired by her home-country – Brasil and the life itself, she sings about passion, magic and the intensity of a relationship with a man she loves or would like to fall in love with. The music always played a significant role in Ive’s life. On her way to the music summit she sang at the local church, learned to play the piano, studied music at the Goianii University and also taught music. The first song she wrote, Casticais was hailed a discovery by the Brasilian press.

In 1999 she moved to London – a city she fell in love with and a one that still does not cease to inspire her with its cosmopolitan atmosphere. That’s where her collaboration with the producer Robin Millar, associated with artists such Sade, commenced. Ive sang a voice message and left it on his phone and Millar was captivated by what he heard. They collaborated on her first album entitled simply Ive Mendes. It turned out to be a huge success and international recognition and fame followed. During the concerts the artist presents her greatest hits from the first two albums such as If you leave me now, Natural High, Night Night czy I don’t wanna talk about it as well as the songs she recorded on her third studio album Bossa Romantica published by Sony Music in November 2016.
The album Bossa Romantica was recorded by Kevin Armstrong who among others collaborated with David Bowie and Iggy Pop. One of the singles from this album, You make me feel brand new was mixed in his studio by Miles Walker, a multiple Grammy winner.
